US reported on Biden’s plans to legalise hundreds of thousands of migrants
US President Joe Biden intends to legalise hundreds of thousands of migrants living illegally in the country. About the plans of the American leader reports CBS, citing sources.
“The Biden administration plans to announce one of the largest immigrant assistance programmes in recent history, developing policies that will grant legal status to hundreds of thousands of immigrants living in the country without proper documentation,” the publication claims.
Sources told the channel that migrants who have been living in the US for at least ten years, arrived in the country as children and are married to US citizens are eligible for legalisation.
Under the terms of the programme, illegal immigrants will be granted work permits and protection from deportation, and then migrants will be able to obtain permanent residency permits and US citizenship without first leaving the country. In addition, visa procedures for highly skilled workers will be simplified.
According to sources, the administration of the American leader intends to announce such measures on 18 June.
On 11 June, it became known that border guards of the US state of California were ordered to immediately deport illegal migrants from Russia and five post-Soviet countries, while citizens of other countries have the right to remain in the US until the completion of the hearings.
