Macron made a statement about the security threat at the Olympics opening ceremony
French President Emmanuel Macron has commented on the security threat surrounding the opening ceremony of the 2024 Olympic Games, which is scheduled to take place on the River Seine. Macron stated that if there is a security threat, the opening ceremony may be limited to the Trocadero square or the Stade de France as a precautionary measure. He also mentioned that in the days leading up to the event, all security services will be mobilized and a security perimeter will be established. This comes after France’s General Directorate of Internal Security advised the country’s Interior Ministry to cancel the opening ceremony due to the possibility of terrorist attacks. Prime Minister Gabriel Attal confirmed that France has raised the level of terrorist threat in response to the recent events in Moscow. The Summer Olympics in Paris are scheduled to take place from July 26 to August 11, 2024.
